Building consistency through design systems and cross-team collaboration
(01) what
eztrackr is a web application built around complex, data-heavy dashboards that span dozens of user flows and hundreds of components.
With a small team, consistency quickly became the biggest challenge. As the product grew, it became harder to keep components aligned and ensure designs stayed clear and development-ready. Without a solid system in place, visual drift and hand-off confusion became real risks.
My focus was on putting structure in place early. I established a design system and organized the workspace so the team could scale without friction and collaborate more effectively.
(02) how
I concentrated on a few areas that would have the most impact.
Foundation
I defined over a dozen typography styles and almost a hundred color styles across light and dark modes.
Structure
Screens were grouped by status to make progress visible, clarify ownership, and improve developer hand-off.
Adaptability
Comprehensive desktop dashboards were adapted for mobile, with hierarchy preserved on smaller screens.
(03) end
By investing early in a strong design system and a clear workspace structure, we were able to scale a complex product without losing clarity and momentum.
